The Society of Environmental Toxicologists & Chemists (SETAC) convened in Pensacola Beach, Florida, to discuss the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and its effects on the environment. The event was the first-ever conference held to discuss an individual event and brought together scientists, industrialists, and government officials to discuss, examine, and learn from data collected about the spill and what can be done to prepare for the future. BP, a major participant in the event, was there to share information gained as a part of this incident to further the knowledge about oil spills and the consequences that result from them.
