This is the second book by Peter Montoya which I happen to purchase and read. The first one being 'The Personal Branding Phenomenon' (and personally, I feel this will be the last book I purchase of his). Much like its predecessor, I found this book more dancing along on the same line as the previous book, however, three major differences

1) It had a lot more 'to-do' list of things. For someone looking for a Coach or Guide in a book, this book does its bit of guidance. And it is very clear, if you commit to these activities, well you will if not see positive results -- at least know what to do and what you shouldn't do.
2) The examples cited in the book are not the regular over-used examples. In his previous book, Michael Jordon, Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi -- well...I think you get the idea. In this book however, different examples were used -- most of them which I never heard of like Mike Parker, Dr. Laura Schlessinger, Kendra Todd and so on.
3) Content was really tight and condensed. There wasn't too much of fluff and wastage of space.

However, even with all these differences, I still wasn't impressed with the book.

Why?

1) I felt there was too much of information, most of which I felt wasn't relevant to what I wanted. For instance, in the chapter of Branding Channels -- which dedicated around 29 pages, all I did was flip through them. Totally unnecessary. And also with the to-do list, I honestly wasn't comfortable with what the author recommended. For instance 'Print a year's supply of Post-Cards with blank spaces for custom messages' or 'Send your Best Brochure to your Best Clients' -- Honestly -- why would I need to do that?
2) There was a strong correlation and confusion between Marketing, Sales & Branding. All the three terms were mixed and mashed to produce this book. And many concepts mentioned in the book were seriously outdated.
3) Boredom. Yes folks, I was bored reading this book. If a book cannot keep my interest, well then what can I say?

So now the moment of truth.

Do I recommend this book?

For students or small business owners -- well may be.

For the rest of people on the planet -- A vehement and absolute NO!

For someone new, well he may devour this book considering the tips, tricks and strategies outlined in this book. But for someone like me who has experimented with a lot of them, I would say, all it would give you in the end is lots of free advice which is totally unnecessary.

Moment of Truth.
So if I were to summarize this book, this is what I would say.
A book with a misleading title which is over-hyped, outdated in its approach and for the worst part -- boring.

Don't buy the book.

Overall Rating.
3 out of 10.
