Physical examination by ausculatation of the heart showed no heart murmurs. The owner consented to dental check up as oral pain due to periodontal disease could be the cause of this sudden onset panting and loss of appetite. The dog was given an IV drip before anaesthesia. She was 17 years old and the big concern was anaethetic death in very old dogs, as in old people. She survived the anaethesia, had 3 molars extracted and is at home. 24 hours follow up - she had started to eat and no longer panted with the tongue out. Some shivering still remained. Will follow up 7 days later. This dog also had a circum-anal tumour.
