Here we work on replacing the left fan of a pre-unibody Macbook Pro 15". This is a supplement to the disassembly guide I posted in another video. At this stage you should already have the Battery, A/C Adapter, and Top Case removed from the computer.

Symptoms of a bad fan: constant grinding noises coming from under the keyboard area that appears to change with heat, away from the hard drive (which is located in the lower left palm rest). The bottom of the computer may get hotter than usual (it's still pretty hot even if the fan is working). Slowness due to overheating may be another symptom.

To clean the fan, do not use compressed air or a blower to blow the fan without using something to prevent the fan from spinning. You can damage the fan bearing and ruin a fan that way. To properly clean the fan, remove the top case, and then use something to hold the fan blades still before using compressed air or a blower.

For the fan replacement you'll just need the T6 bit used to remove the top case and a non marring tool.
