The original mount was too low and the belt rubbed the lathe frame, the simple solution was to raise the motor. There is a bit of vibration which was expected, I'll keep working on that but eventually the stand will need some additional weight. The motor mount attaches to the lathe stand via a single brass Stanley door hinge, hopefully it's up to the task. The lathe is running off a 3 speed HVAC motor wired for it's lowest speed, estimated around 650 RPMs. Within the next few days I'll wire it so that I can use all 3 speeds. It's designed to run off flat belts but I don't have one yet so I'm using a v-belt turned inside out. That's pretty tough on the belt and it won't last long but it was an old belt anyway.
