I came across two different ways of making a voltage doubling rectifier on Youtube and the Internet. I'm not sure if there is a difference.

 I'm using Ed Lenz's voltage doubler and it seems to be effective. The other connection method is from Comwarrior69.  I am also interested in the voltage stabilizing aspect of  using a big capacitor  and connect it directly across the positive and negative side of the dc output.  Aside from stabilizing the voltage, can the amount of energy stored in the capacitor be effectively used to, say,  charge a battery.  What additional circuits and electronics are needed. Working with capacitors can be dangerous, especially the big ones. Please be careful or you can be seriously injured.
