Brents Paddle Out (9-20-2014)

On September 20, 2014 Brent's Wife- Michele, Son- Paul and Daughter- Brianna hosted a celebration of life for their beloved Husband and Father Brent Ballington In attendance were about 100 of Brent's family, friends and former co-workers ( from Kennedy Space Center where Brent worked for over 20 years) came together at crossover #9 Playalinda Beach, FL. It was raining everywhere except where Brent held the rain back and pushed the clouds back just enough to have a beautiful rainbow and sunshine to light the green water on the little 2'-3' swell that seemed to come up out of know where this morning. After a very touching ceremony on the beach . #9 was proclaimed Ballington Beach by Brent's long time friend Jimmy. Next about 30 surfers including Brent's daughter Brianna and son Paul paddled out for a traditional. Paul carried with him the earn containing Brent's ashes. We all gathered in a circle, Paul and Brianna in the middle with a wreath. Paul and Brianna said their goodbye's for a few minutes quietly and then Paul said his final prayer aloud just before releasing his father's ashes into the classic Florida green ocean that Brent loved so much for his whole life. Then all at once from the circle of surfers came a loud cheer to Brent as a final farewell to their fellow surfer, friend, Father and brother. Of course since there was waves it turned to let's surf for Brent after the water ceremony. I know Brent is looking down and smiling at all of us and just oh so proud of both of his well rounded children right now. RIP my Brother! Ps. I had the water housing on my GoPro camera so the audio was really muffled. So I just put music to the video instead.
