Libyan forces fire at ISIL positions in Sirte

Libyan forces in Sirte have engaged in skirmishes with ISIL in the Ghiza Bahriya district as part of the final push to oust the militants from their former North African stronghold. Fighters patrolled the areas and front lines at the intersection of Sirte's Ghiza Bahriya and Cambo neighbourhood which was freed from ISIL earlier this week.Libyan forces are close to ending a six-month campaign to liberate Sirte from Islamic State.The militants took over the city more than a year ago.Forces mostly from nearby Misrata city are pushing ahead street by street, facing snipers and suicide bombers. They are being helped by U.S. air strikes and are also coordinating with small teams of Western special forces on the ground.
