SHOOTING IN TUNIS
A Tunisian soldier opened fire on colleagues at a military base in the capital Tunis, killing a colonel and wounding eight other soldiers before Tunisian forces shot him. Tunisian security forces have been on alert since an attack in March on the Bardo national museum where gunmen killed a group of 22 tourists. With the overthrow of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali  in 2011, Tunisia has been battling militant groups with links to ISIS  and al Qaeda, which have carried out attacks on security forces.

REGIONAL ELECTION RESULTS
In local and regional elections, Spain’s incumbent Popular Party led-by Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy won a slim majority with 27 percent of the popular vote . It  lost the city council in Madrid for the first time in the past two decades. Rajoy has been maintaining severe cuts in public spending and has been in a string of corruption scandals in the last four years. Meanwhile, the Socialist Party of Spain also received 25 percent of the votes which has put them in second place prior parliamentary elections which will be held in six months. 

HEZBOLLAH LOYAL TO ASSAD
Leader of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, vowed to continue fighting in Syria in support of the Assad regime. Speaking at a ceremony marking the 15th anniversary of Israel’s withdrawal from southern Lebanon, Nasrallah told thousands that Hezbollah’s presence would grow whenever it is required for the group to be present. He promised to battle what he referred to as “Sunni extremists groups” such as ISIS and al-Qaeda, claiming these factions are an "existential threat.”

DIESEL SHORTAGE
Nigeria’s leading mobile phone operator, MTN, has said networker service may soon die out nationwide if 
if it is not immediately supplied with diesel. The mobile industry will be the latest hit by the months-long diesel crisis in the biggest oil producing country in Africa. The party of newly elected president Muhammadu Buhari, set to take office on May 29th, has blamed outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan’s government for the crisis in Nigeria.
