SMASH stands for Social Mediation and Self-Help. A group of young women attend, SMASH, a special intervention programme in order to build their emotional resilience. This film is an honest and enlightening insight into their world, as they talk candidly about their hopes and fears in the wake of the challenges they face on a day-to-day basis. Filmmakers aged 11-13 This film was made as part of Into Film’s See It Make It programme. See It Make It matched professional filmmakers with local clusters of film clubs to support groups of young people to make their own short films. Supported by the British Film Institute, Into Film is the UK's film learning programme for 5-19 year olds, encouraging and enabling watching, making and critical understanding of film.
