excerpts of pieces i'm currently practicing, each ending on the chord of the respective key it's written in (sort of ^^). i hope you discover something new and maybe want to try some of it! i played this in a single session, so please bear with me ;) Scarlatti - Sonata K27 in b minor 0:04 Recently i've become addicted to Scarlatti, something i probably couldn't imagine a time ago. His music is so fresh and exciting that you almost forget it's baroque! I follow Michelangeli's creative interpretation a bit, he's playing this piece at an unbelievable tempo. Mendelssohn - Songs Without Words Op. 67 No. 2 - Lost Illusions 0:45 A beautiful piece with a striking melody. In fact, most of the songs without words are like this and i can absolutely recommend checking them out and picking one! unfortunately, my excerpt here is a bit short. William Baines - Silverpoints - IV Floralia 1:10 Another nearly forgotten composer, but his pieces are athmospheric paintings, check him out! Chopin - Fantasy Impromptu #4 Op. 66 1:25 who doesn't know this piece? ^^ Nikolai Kapustin - Concert Etude Pastorale Op. 40-6 (not 7 ^^) 1:46 Kapustin combines the jazz idiom in classically structured pieces, awesome! check out his sonata #2. Chopin - Etude Op. 10-3 Tristesse 2:31 Beautiful piece, easy at first, but beware of the other 2 parts i showcase here, it's almost hard to believe they are from the same piece, very difficult technically. Grieg - Sonata #1 Op. 7 (or 6 ^^) in e 3:17 rarely played Sonata, but i think it's awesome. i played it in full but didn't record it and forgot some of it by now.. Charles V. Alkan Prelude Op. 31 No 13 - J'etais endormie mais mon coeur veillait 3:54 One of my favourite, neglected, composers shows that he can not only pour out virtuosic hell rides, but is also a master of the miniature. the title means something like "i fell asleep, but my heart held watch" only piece i play in full here.
