Police Commissioner Gary Griffith says there needs to be greater synergy with the private security industry as the country seeks to reduce serious crime. Speaking at the launch of the British High Commission's first-ever Security Awareness Week, he said for too long that sector has been under-utilised. Expanding on a comment from High Commissioner Tim Stew that T&T’s security mechanisms should evolve with global technological advances, Commissioner Griffith highlighted one area in which the use of technology is benefiting the public. The British High Commission’s Safety Week is themed Security Awareness For Everyone (SAFE), and is in partnership with private security firm Amalgamated Security Services.
