A Brewer's Blackbird eats residual bread crumbs and bird seed on the ground that the well-fed ducks at the Temecula Duck Pond. The Brewer's Blackbird is a medium-sized blackbird with purple gloss on the head and neck and a green gloss on body and wings, which are probably visible under bright sunlight at an angle, but not in this video. The eyes are yellow. These birds are known to follows farm tractors and plows, and forage on the ground, feeding on caterpillars, insects, fruits, seeds and grains. In a suburban setting I commonly see these permanent residents of Southern California feeding on food crumbs in food courts on in parks. They'll land on the chair backs of the chairs you aren't using and eat straight out of unattended food, and as such, it is easy to see why they do so well among human settlements.
