Gate resistance alone is used to set how much of the time the Rosemary Ainslie circuit spends in oscillation, taking the burst from roughly 40 percent of the cycle down to about 20 to 25 percent. The target is described as neither full oscillation nor pure pulsing but the flop between them. Practical bench advice: use ten-turn pots on off-time, on-time and gate, because single-turn pots are too coarse to hold the setting.
