Rwanda plans strategic import-export base in Djibouti

Rwanda is planning to establish a strategic import and export base in Djibouti. The facility will be constructed on a 20-hectare piece of land at the country's port. The plans were confirmed during President Paul Kagame visit in Djibouti. The two nations also agreed to waive visa requirements for diplomats and service officers in a bid to enhance trade. The immigration deal alongside others on ICT and investments, were also signed during the visit . Djibouti is strategically located near the world's busiest shipping routes, controlling access to the Red Sea and Indian Ocean. Despite increasing intra-African trade, it just accounts for 12 percent of the total global trade.President Kagame and his host Ismail Omar Guelleh urged businessmen from the two nations to maximise on their agreements signed.
