Cat Owners Home Goes Up In Flames / Lawndale RAW FOOTAGE

Written by City News Service - A fire damaged a house in Lawndale this morning and
killed at least one cat.
The fire in the one-story single-family home at 4208 167th Street, just
east of Hawthorne Boulevard, was reported at 3:19 a.m. , said Rey Dong,
supervising dispatcher with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. It was
knocked down by 3:37 a.m., according to Dong, who said no injuries were
reported.
There were 10 cats in the house, the homeowner told a news photographer
at the scene. Three of the cats were rescued, one was carried out of the house
dead by a firefighter, and six others remained missing this morning, the
photographer reported.
The fire destroyed the rear of the home. One of the homeowners said he
woke up and found the back porch of the home engulfed in flames.
The fire apparently started in the home's detached garage, which
contained chemicals used by the homeowner in his job as a pool cleaner, a
neighbor told the photographer. LOUDLABS NEWS
