For more information, see Scott et al., Neuron 100/5, http://www.cell.com/neuron/fulltext/S0896-6273(18)30852-3. Widefield calcium imaging is an emerging technology that allows measurement of neural dynamics across multiple brain regions. In this video, the authors report the development of two new resources for widefield calcium imaging: transgenic rats that express the fluorescent sensor GCaMP6f and cScope, a lightweight, head-mounted macroscope. Together, these technologies allow researchers to record large-scale cortical dynamics generated during natural and adaptive behaviors.
