MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WKRC) - The mix of freezing rain and ice Wednesday night into Thursday morning delayed many schools and closed some, including in Middletown. School in Middletown was canceled due to ice and power outages. Elliot and Miles Duff are students at Miller Ridge Elementary. The boys are hanging out with their dad at work. Wes Duff is a pastor at Breiel Church in Middletown. His house lost power. "I woke up around 7 a.m., didn't know the snow was coming in. I got a text from my wife saying school is canceled and the boys are with me," said Wes. "We're bonding, having fun, having a good time. Trying to get through a workday is a little stressful. We look forward to the heat being on tonight," said Wes. Elliot and Miles are making the most out of their day. They played kickball in the halls and danced like no one was watching. Elliot does have a message for everyone, though: "I want everyone out there to have their power on and drive safe so they don't slip," said Elliot. If you're a parent of a Middletown student and you have a parent-teacher conference that is scheduled for Thursday night -- that is still going on. The middle school concert is rescheduled for Nov. 19.
