The number of the day is 106. Which is of course the number of years that the ANC has existed since it's the birthday of the ruling party. The ANC was founded on the 8th January 1912 although it was then known as the South African Native National Congress. And traditionally the anniversary is marked with the release of a major statement for the forthcoming year - delivered by the President. Often on another day ironically…and the January the 8th statement will be delivered tomorrow on the 13th of January in East London in the Eastern Cape.
