Part One: Power to the People! At 8:00 am on June 27, 2016 an amazing fellowship of concerned citizens and civic representatives flocked to Vancouver Washington to show support for a denial vote for the construction of the largest oil terminal in North America proposed for Vancouver WA.

Thank You, Columbia River Keeper for leading the legal charge to
fight this battle and Kudos to everyone working along side them to protect the Columbia River Gorge. As well, as protect our communities of human and non human animals all along the rails on both sides of the river from being exposed to highly volatile Bakken Crude by rail or marine transport.

Sea Lions are being scapegoated and killed for consuming as little
as one salmon in five years out of the Columbia River below the
Bonneville Dam. Under the guise of protecting the salmon while highly volatile oil trains have been getting a free pass.

On June 03, 2016 in Mosier Oregon the train had 94 cars loaded with Bakken crude oil, plus two "buffer cars," according to the federal report. The crash closed Interstate 84 and forced hundreds of people to evacuate as the fire burned for 14 hours (1).

In its filing, the Department of Natural Resources said the Tesoro Savage project would "create an increased risk of wildfire ignition along every mile of track used, both from heat and sparks creased by increased daily rail traffic and from catastrophic accidents."(2)

Therefore the scapegoating and killing of sea lions for consuming
some salmon out of the Columbia River below the Bonneville Dam
needs to cease. Their impacts are minimal compared to the dams and highly volatile Bakken fuel oil trains.

It is time to stop investing in smoke screens and stop the oil and coal trains from degrading and destroying our National Treasures.
And killing off what is left of key stone species in our bio-region.

The wild salmon and sea lions have survived for thousands of years together on the Columbia River like the salmon and the oil trains will not.

The Sea Lions and the wild salmon are both native to the Pacific Northwest like Bakken Crude is not. Both salmon and sea lion populations thrived until human land mammals intervened with their dams, clear cuts, oil and coal trains, hatchery fish, the harvest, purse seine, gill nets and ocean trawlers, DDT , PCB's PAH's, Mercury, copper, pesticides, herbicides, house hold products, pharmaceuticals and toxic road run off have invaded our waterways and all have the capacity to cause high mortality rates
in salmon for thousands of years.

Moreover the sea lions only eat fish and their pooh is an important cornerstone in the food chain for all life in the oceans unlike an oil spill.
