Another key trial has begun! Cote d'Ivoire's former first lady Simone Gbagbo appeared in an Abidjan court on Tuesday - for crimes against humanity. The charges relate to the 2010 2011 crisis in Cote d'Ivoire. Her husband, Laurent Gbagbo refused to step down following elections, leading to months of violence. In more detail, the charges against her include crimes against prisoners of war, crimes against the civilian population, as well as crimes against humanity. She's already serving a 20-year prison sentence for her involvement in rights abuses against supporters of current President Alassane Ouattara. Rights group representing victims have pulled out of the trial, though, claiming the proceedings are flawed.
