Man Faces Numerous Felony Charges In Connection With Deadly Crash That Killed CHP Officer

The Rocklin man accused of causing a deadly crash where a California Highway Patrol officer and another person were killed is due in court Monday morning.

Sean Walker, 36, faces a number of felony charges in connection with the deadly crash in Fairfield. Walker faces two felony charges of gross vehicular manslaughter and one count of reckless driving causing fatal injuries.


If convicted, he could have to serve up to seven years in prison.

Investigators said this is also a case of distracted driving because he was texting moments before the crash on Aug. 10.

The crash happened on westbound Interstate 80 at Manuel Campos Parkway/North Texas Street. Officer Kirk Griess was conducting a traffic enforcement stop with Jaime Manuel, who was driving a Saturn SUV. The two were pulled over on the right shoulder when a Chevrolet pickup truck veered over and hit Griess and the Saturn, CHP said.
