CINCINNATI (WKRC) - All five cell phones from the so-called Gang of 5 are now in the possession of the Hamilton County Prosecutor's office. An update on the case was given in court Monday morning. The Gang of 5 includes councilmembers P.G. Sittenfeld, Tamaya Dennard, Chris Seelbach, Greg Landsman and Wendell Young. At issue is the Gang of 5's text messages. The five Democratic members of council exchanged texts earlier in 2018 about city business. That's a potential violation of the state's open meetings law. All five phones were subpoenaed for a grand jury investigation. Local 12 has confirmed that Young did testify before a grand jury last week. Prosecutor Joe Deters has said there are indications Young did delete some messages. An outside attorney has been appointed to review all text messages from the five council members to weed out all of the messages not related to the case and to protect their privacy. In court, that attorney, Doug Nichols, said that the messages have been downloaded but not yet reviewed. He may also request to bring in an IT specialist to help.
