Ride to the border of Spain and climb to 1540m altitude through the forest and grassland
The Raid Pyrenees (Raid Pyrénéen) is an epic coast to coast route from the Mediterranean Sea to the Atlantic Ocean. Take on the challenge, climb the individual mountains one by one and reach the Atlantic.
This ride follows on from the T2055.74 Col de Marie Blanque and takes us deeper into the Pyrenees and close to Spain. The Col de Labays/Soudet is the main climb of the day and one of the longest of the entire Raid Pyrenees at just under 20 km. Starting with a short wooded section you’re soon into the open grassland pastures that will feature on most of the remaining climbs. The top of the Labays is not the top of the climb as we make a left turn and continue climbing for some kilometres on wider roads to the top of the Soudet (1540m). Another cyclist is on the road during these last kilometres so you will have company. The ride ends on the edge of the Basque part of the Pyrenees that will feature in the remaining three stages. The spectacular T2055.76 Iraty Plateau is next.
