Here is an often overlooked transition. Mount is one of the most dominate positions but there are times when it is not the best choice (mainly when your opponent is so large that your knees don't hit the floor). When that times arrives it is important to have a technical dismount that leaves you in a dominate position. This technique focuses on taking the head out of alignment, dominating the hips and back stepping. Keep in mind that when you back step it is very important to post that foot so that it is flat on the floor and your knee is pointed towards the ceiling. More often than note people choose the wrestling base with legs spread and knees horizontal. You need to have the ability to push of that foot immediately and if it is in the wrestling base you will not have that option.
