Progressive Spelling Bee? Nah, not quite. Canada's Protest the Hero have gotten some media in the past in their home country, and have steadily grown acclaim stateside as well with their intricate idea of mathcore and progressive metal. With Scurrilous, the mathlete monotony is tuned down to a minimum while the progressive virtuosity is dialed up. the vocals still can be a challenge for most true metal fans to get into, however, fans of progressive music, more popularized metal and, well, Coheed and Cambria will fit in just fine. construction is a plus, which this band also does pretty well. kudos. 7.5
