You don't know where to begin because nothing looks familiar and everything looks expensive. What to do? Ask the Wine Director if you could have a moment of his or her time and then start laying out the ground rules. "This is what I typically like to drink. This is what we're having tonight," and the most important thing of all that nobody does because we're afraid to look gauche, "This is what I would like to spend." I'm sure the Wine Director would be thrilled to turn you onto something great and satisfy your price.
