Seeing how the climate was going to change after the past election, we kind of knew that a lot of guard instructors were going to influence their shows based off what they felt, and how they wanted to change things around. So many positive shows resulted from it. I mean, fate would have, two different guards, made shows out of the same speech that Barack Obama. We want to encourage independence. So we decided to try and go a little deeper and different. Abstract would be a good way to describe it. Tool is abstract with their music, making visuals to compliment the music, that has encourage people to think for themselves and question authority, which felt like the dialogue that was missing from the guard world. Plus the song we chose that carried that ideal was gracious and epic that it could fit in a color guard format, so that also set us apart. So we articulated a visual of rising above all this dark negativity, being the individual that stands up, and tries to change it all to something positive.
