In exactly a week South Africa's new Finance Minister, Tito Mboweni, will deliver his maiden budget speech. The Medium Term budget is not like the February budget which outlines exact allocations to various priorities, rather it sets out government's spending priorities for a number of years. The economy has not been growing adequately while South Africa's debt burden has been rising. That's partly why credit rating agencies are concerned about our ability to pay back borrowed funds. Well in the lead up to the medium-term budget we will tackle a range of issues from the land question, to finding out if the budget can help transformation, to the impact on the markets.
