A very high total white cell count and low platelets indicated septicaemia in this dog passing reddish brown vaginal discharge. A poor chance of survival was given based on this septicaemia. So the owners decided ro binng the dog home to die as there was no point spending money on operation and getting a dead dog. I followed up this case by phoning the owner. He agreed to the spay. The dog survived and everybody was happy. This dog had breast tumours some 2 years ago and the other side now has tumours.
