How far would you go to get food if you were starving? Would you be able to swim one hundred and forty six nautical miles up river and face rubber bullets fired at you from high powered rifles to having M80's dropped on your head and speed boats trying to run you over.

Keep in mind the weapons being used on the sea lions below the Bonneville Dam are concussion bombs and so called "non-lethal" weaponry like those used on protesters last summer in Portland Oregon. And anyone with past experience of being hit by one of these rubber bullets' or M80 concussion bombs knows that they hurt and can cause life altering injury and death

in 2020, already killing California Sea Lions on the Columbia River below the Bonneville Dam and on the Willamette River the approved governmental agencies were given permission by NOAA to add the Steller Sea Lions to their unjust, evil, and ecologically damaging hit list. In 2020, ODFW
has reported on their web site that they have scapegoated and killed 11 Steller sea lions and 12, California Sea Lions on the Willamette and Columbia River. Your chances in 2021, are next to none to see these animals not harassed, not bombed, not trapped and not killed by Uncle Sam and paid agents of the Dams. .https://www.dfw.state.or.us/fish/SeaL...

Sea Lions spend half their day under the water not on top of it like humans do. So to keep from freezing to death the sea lions have to consume nutrients or else they can catch hypothermia, thus leading to pneumonia and maybe even death. Most humans will not freeze to death if they do not eat fish. No human to date has been able to swim the Columbia River from the pacific ocean 146, nautical miles east to the Bonneville Dam and when they do, on that day, humans can dictate who gets to eat the fish or not. Until that day the wildlife should come first.

Once all that is "wild" is so called "managed" and exterminated out of the Columbia/ Willamette Rivers are the wild salmon really protected ?

We know that predator removal programs do not work because another will come in and fill the niche of the removed. You can see this phenomena in the human species too.. Removing top predators like the sea lions from the Columbia/ Willamette Rivers leads to trophic cascades, a disruption in the natural food web. When the sea lions get to eat the whole ecosystem gets to eat. Humans can not say the same.

.If this bothers you as it does me please call Governor Kate Brown Phone: (503) 378-4582 and Governor Jay Inslee 360-902-4111

Call NOAA's Robert Anderson 503- 230-5400, west coast division of protected resources Demand that he pull the permit for lethal removal.

Demand that they stop scapegoating and killing sea lions and focus on the real cause of salmon mortality like the warming waters of the PNW, ocean acidification, 42,780 blocked fish passages identified by ODFW's Fish Passage and Fish Screen Division in 2019, that inhibit and prohibit wild fish migration, pollution, micro plastics, persistent and endocrine disrupting chemicals in our waterways, Dams, Habitat loss, NIS and hatchery fish eating fish inundation and thousands of unscreened culverts & water bypasses remain unscreened and unmaintained across Oregon..

“Barriers are frequently associated with irrigation, municipal, industrial
and hydroelectric water diversions that can cause fish loss in the
millions,” says ODFW’s Pete Bakki.

In addition, The US NAVY working with Washington’s Department of
Ecology in 2014 identified over 30,000 blocked fish passages in
Washington State alone that inhibit and prohibit wild fish migration..

The warm slack water lakes created by dams can
be a haven for vectors, NIS fish and water borne diseases that disorientate
and kill salmon, lamprey and sturgeon.

It has been found that the loss of the temperature diversity may be as
significant to salmon and trout in the Columbia and Snake Rivers and their
major tributaries as maximum temperatures (2). Therefore, it has been
stated that protection and restoration of temperature diversity is critical in
order for salmonids to migrate through these waters with minimal thermal
stress
