Learn how to setup and install the Motorola Solutions’ ACE1000 unit, both RTU and FEP, to a PC over a USB connection. For more information please visit http://www.motorolasolutions.com/industrialIOT 0:01 Welcome to the ACE1000 quick start guide video series. Today I will show you how to connect an ACE1000 unit both FEP and RTU to a PC over a USB connection in order to access the web interface of this unit. 0:17 The ACE1000 model has a micro USB communication port which functions as an RNS connection. 0:25 When using a micro USB cable to connect the unit to a PC the user may be required to define the RNS adapter in order to be able to communicate through this connection. 0:38 What we need for this video is a laptop or desktop machine, an ACE1000 Unit either RTU or FEP, A power supply to power the ACE1000 unit and a micro USB cable. 0:53 As you can imagine, I have already set up the configuration with my laptop. I've powered the unit and waited for it to complete its power on. 1:01 Before plugging the unit into my PC I will first plug the device manager so we can see what happens. I will now plug in the unit. 1:13 As you can see i still have no rns device in the network adapter section but i do have some other device or it could be an unknown device on some computers in parallel to the device manager. It’s also possible to verify this via a command prompt window in two ways via the IP conflict command it would be possible to setup that the machine has the proper IP address which is 192.168.9.10 via the ping command sending a ping to the unit IP address which will always be 192.168.9.9. 1:54 As you can see there is no network adapter with the IP address I will now try to ping. 2:01 As you can see the unit is not responding to the ping request that I am sending. So if this ping works then this whole video can be skipped. 2:19 If the ping dose not work, then it is most likely an RNS driver issue. Going back to the device manager we can see that the is no adapter so i will right click on the device and i will choose update driver software. The update driver was open and I will choose the manual way by clicking the browser on my computer and driver software button. 2:47 On the next screen again I will go manual and choose the computer drive from the list. 2:55 The next screen in the window will make me choose a device start type where i will choose a network adapter from the list. Then i will press next. 3:06 Once the network adapter type has been selected the appropriate software driver should be selected as well so we will choose a manufacturer - Microsoft - sometimes could be Mac - and i will choose a network adapter that remote NDS compatible device this will be followed by a confirmation for you to install the driver. Once the driver is properly installed it should work automatically. 3:35 When connecting a unit to the PC . I will disconnect and as you can see I have the USB Ethernet RNS gadget installed properly. I will also check configuration is done both that i have the proper IP address and RTUI address is now answering the ping request that i was testing earlier now it should work as you can see i have ethernet adapter with the IP address 192.9.10 when i ping the IP address it will now work. 4:27 I would like to thank you for watching this video i hope you have enjoyed it and gained some new knowledge. Thank you. Bye bye.
