As I have to regularly automate classrooms setups it is very important that I can maintain control of all machines in the room centrally. If you create an ssh key pair for you root user and distribute that key during intsalls you can then authenicate via you public key rather than password to those machines. This makes simple taks like machine shutdown very easy at the end of the day and easily scriptable. This is something that you too can use in your own enviroment either with root or another deignated account on the machine.
