A 10-year-old mini-Maltese was suddenly immobile for 10 minutes

23 Dec 2018 After being immobile for 10 minutes, like a statue, the old Maltese was OK. This occurred twice this year, after her heat period. Her last heat was in Oct 2018. Possible causes would be muscle cramps or abdominal pain (bladder infections, uterine infections). Generally she is healthy on physical examination. A blood test is done. She has a small mammary tumour which will be removed during dental scaling next week. It is fortunate for the dog that the mammary tumour was detected early as it will be easier to remove. Get your dog yearly health examination. Always spay your dog early to prevent womb infections (pyometra)
