Over the years, Uganda has registered a decline in the prevalence of HIV from over 16% in the early 90’s to the current 7.3% national prevalence. Despite the reversal, the period between 2005 and 2011 witnessed a resurgence of the epidemic with the prevalence oscillating between 6 and 7% at national level. In 2017, the President launched the Fast tracking initiative to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030 because of this resurgence.
