Crash Kills Two Teenagers in Harrison

Two people were killed in a single car crash Tuesday night, according to  Hamilton County Sheriff's Department Spokesperson Janice Atkinson.

Atkinson said it happened just before 9 pm in the 6000 block of Champion Road, just off of Hwy. 58.

"In the 19 years I've lived here, it seems like almost an accident a year," said Dwayne Riden.

He lives around the bend near the crash site.

"People just don't realize the grade and the curve and they come through here very fast," said Riden.  

Riden says that far too often, the trees lining the road are scarred with tragedy. 

"People wanting to drive too fast on this road and it's been that way for many many years," said Riden.

Police say the driver of a 2014 Black Audi appeared to be speeding, when they lost control, and crashed into a tree in the 6000 block of Champion road. 
Both the driver and passenger died at the scene. 
 
Greg Colston says he hears car wrecks on the curve all the time. 
He walked to the crash site this morning with his 18 year old son. 

"Put the fear in him that that could be him if he don't slow his car down," said Colston.  

The car pieces left behind are a tangible life lesson for Colston's son.

"Pretty much speed. Just watch your speed," said Colston, looking at his son, "It's not really just you, it's everybody else around you."

The reality for the victim's families--they've lost a loved one. 

"It's never pleasant when a family has to be notified that their child has been killed," said Riden, "so my heart just kind of sank when i knew that it happened on our road again."

Police haven't released any information about the victims. They are still working to locate and notify family members.

A 2014 black Audi was headed south on Champion Road when it lost control in a curve, lost control and slammed into a tree.

Both the driver and passenger died at the scene.

According to Atkinson, "the vehicle appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed."

She said all family members have yet to be notified, so the victims identities have not been released.
