Two security guards accused of murdering banker appear in court

Two security guards who allegedly assaulted a banker, leading to his death, appeared before the High Court today, but were not required to plead to a murder charge. Hamisi Hare Karisa and Said Mwamuye Mwalungo, who appeared before Justice Dora Chepkwony, were only informed of the charges facing them. Prosecutor Eric Masila told the court that the accused had earlier been charged with assault at Shanzu court, but the charge was withdrawn by the prosecution. Justice Chepkwony ordered the accused to be remanded at Bamburi police station for five days, and be escorted to Coast General hospital for a mental assessment, before pleading to the charge.
