A5041157 Jack is a hug-giving 10-year-old white male Miniature Poodle whose owner surrendered him without providing a reason on March 15th to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center. Weighing 16 lbs, Jack has one of the most awesome grins and good-natured personalities we’ve ever encountered! Talk about a huge underbite and two snaggle teeth! He’s a delight to walk on leash—he stays right next to you, and he prances—and the man can hug, really! He shows signs of housebreaking, has a good energy (he seems to think he’s 5), is okay with other dogs, and came out of his kennel and lifted up his head and chest to be picked up. Once up, he likes to hug his person and look over their shoulder or just stay on their chest. He’s amazing! Right now Jack is in the medical building, being treated for ear infections and dental issues (the shelter vet has removed some of his teeth), which means he’s not getting public exposure and an adopter will have to sign a medical waiver for him. We think Jack is a real catch! We’d like to see him be an indoor pet and beloved companion in a household of one or many—just so long as it’s a household that will care for and treasure this trusting, silly-faced, good-natured, prancing, curly-haired, hugging boy.

Our Mission:

United Hope for Animals is dedicated to reducing homelessness among companion animals through spay/neuter, shelter support, photography, video and networking of shelter animals in Southern California. It is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization working to end homelessness among companion animals by supporting shelter adoptions and spay/neuter programs. Through our Shelter Support Program, our volunteers photograph and video shelter pets to increase their chances of adoption significantly. Our volunteer Adoption Coordinators help facilitate adoptions of shelter pets. United Hope for Animals supports rescue, spay/neuter and networking of shelter pets to increase their chances of adoption. UHA is not a shelter, but supports shelters to help increase visibility of animals who might not otherwise be seen.
