A5046316 Schatzi is a heart-melting 1½-year-old brown-and-black, female German Shepherd who entered the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center as a stray from Whittier on April 2nd. Weighing 57 lbs—and underweight by about 15—Schatzi is an extremely beautiful German Shepherd who looks to have been neglected (she came in filthy, with inflamed ears, a tick and flea infestation, and tapeworms—all of which have been treated by the shelter). She’s extremely timid in the shelter but shows absolutely no aggression toward people or other dogs; in fact, she likes other dogs and appears to find comfort in being with them. The shelter is requiring a waiver for Schatzi’s adoption at this point because of her physical condition and behavior. We think Schatzi is going to shine once she’s gotten the care she so needs, and that she’ll make a rewarding and loving indoor pet and companion for any household where she’ll be adored and made healthy, given the activity and exercise that a working dog needs, and made an integral part of the family. And having a canine companion as part of her family might be an extra plus for her. United Hope for Animals is not a facility.
