CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Voting for midterm elections gets underway Tuesday morning in the Tri-State and several important races will be decided across the country, some of which could have a big impact in Washington. Locally, many eyes are fixed on the races for the 1st and 2nd Congressional Districts. In the 2nd District, Democratic challenger Aftab Pureval faces off with Republican incumbent Steve Chabot. Pureval, the current Hamilton County Clerk of Courts who's making his first run at congress, was out campaigning over the weekend in Norwood following weeks of turmoil surrounding his campaign. Chabot, who's spent more than two decades representing the district, has leaned heavily on his experience throughout the duration of his campaign. In the 2nd District, it's Republican incumbent Brad Wenstrup taking on Democratic challenger Jill Schiller with Green Party candidate James Condit Jr. rounding out the ballot. That race has been a bit more civil than the first district with fewer negative campaign ads. There's also Issue One, which essentially, if passed, would reduce sentences for many nonviolent convicted criminals and it's been a hot button issue leading up to Tuesday.
