On Feb 9, 2025, this 13-year-old Golden Retriever came back to Toa Payoh Vets as the owner decided to take the anaesthetic risk of getting her operated to remove her infected womb. The womb had lots of pus, with excessive spillage out of the back area, soiling the house floors. This medical condition is called Open Pyometra. Around 7 days ago, she had passed blackish blood from the vagina. She was also panting a lot and so was unfit for surgery. The owner hand fed her for the past week but she kept rejecting the food esp. oral multivitamins. The womb and ovaries would be removed so as to prevent septic infections causing loss of appetite. UPDATE. The dog recovered fully after surgery and ate well.
