On a Sunday in April 2014, I encountered 2 Cavalier King Charles with the lateral ear canal resection done at Toa Payoh Vets. Twin cases with similar diseases and/or surgeries are rare for a particular vet in vet practice, in my opinion.

I had a twin case of two Shih Tzus with right eye central ulcerative keratitis (eye ulcer) within a day of each other recently. Also two cases of chronic otitis externa with intense itchiness and black pigmentation. These videos have been uploaded in You Tube.

In this CKC No. 2, the lady owner had one ear operated a month ago and this video records her feedback as she wants the 2nd ear to be operated. The inflammation causing ear scratching and the bad smell of infected ear were the reasons for her wanting the surgery done. The good surgical outcome of the other ear convinced her that the now infected other ear would benefit from this surgery.

Many Singapore dog owners are not keen on this type of surgery even though their dogs suffer immense daily ear pain from the long-standing infections and scratching, preferring vet treatments involving drugs and ear drops.
