Microsoft Excel Tutorial:  Master Your NCAA Pool with Excel: Track Wins and Project Future Points!

Welcome to the MrExcel netcast, where we discuss all things Excel. In today's episode, we're talking about March Madness and how to use Excel to manage your NCAA pool. As a commissioner, my job becomes very easy once the games start. All I have to do is enter the winning teams and let the formulas do the rest. But, what's even more important is keeping track of the possible points for each participant.

Let's say someone chose a team to win the entire bracket, but that team gets upset in the first round. We already know that they've lost that game and can't possibly get those points. So, while we're looking at the total points someone has earned, we're also interested in their possible points if they were to win all the remaining games. This gives us a better understanding of their chances of winning the pool.

As we scroll through the results, we can see that some participants have already lost games in the early rounds, meaning their selections for later rounds have also been eliminated. This affects their possible points and decreases their chances of winning. So, while someone may have a high total score, their possible score may be much lower.
