Bus fares in Maharashtra have been hiked by 18 per cent
MSRTC that runs the state transport services blamed rise in fuel prices for the hike 
The authority is already bearing a cost of Rs 849 crore after offering an increment in the salaries 
Additionally, the MSRTC will now have to pay Rs 460 crore to cover up for the rise in fuel prices
According to the new fare rates, a ticket in the Pune-Dadar AC Shivneri Bus Service will cost Rs 525 
Interestingly, prices of private bus services have gone down in the monsoon season
The MSRTC, however, has said that the hike could be rolled back if the state government waived off taxes on fuel for them.
