In this video, I’m hitting Speed Squats with 245 lbs + 260 lbs of added weight, performing 10 sets of 2 reps to build explosive power, speed, and technique. Speed squats are all about generating maximum force in minimal time, helping to improve your ability to move heavier weights quickly and efficiently. The added chains or bands increase resistance as you rise, making the top portion of the squat more challenging and helping to develop lockout power.

I’ll take you through the setup, emphasizing the importance of fast, controlled reps and explosive hip drive. Speed work is an essential component of powerlifting training, allowing you to increase squat strength while improving your ability to accelerate from the bottom of the lift. By focusing on bar speed and quickness, you develop the explosive strength necessary for handling heavier weights in future training cycles.

If you're looking to improve your squat velocity, work on your explosiveness, or break through squat plateaus, speed squats are an excellent tool to include in your training. Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more tips on increasing power and performance in the squat!
