Water main leak causes Grant County city to be without running water

CORINTH, Ky. (WKRC) - Residents in Corinth, Kentucky, in southern Grant County say they have been without running water for more than 24 hours.

The Corinth Water District posted to Facebook Saturday night to say crews were out looking for the water main break. The water manager of Corinth said they've been trying to find the break since 6:30 a.m. Saturday.

Crews are still looking for the break. They will reportedly cap the main water valve on U.S. 25 near Mason-Corinth Elementary School, and they have issued a water boil advisory.

The water manager said there's 945 gallons of water spilling a minute. 

Williamstown Water District is also assisting in finding the break. There's no estimate on how long it will take to fix.

There's also still a lot of standing water in the area from flash floods Friday night. 

Late Sunday afternoon, Magistrate Jacqalynn Riley told Local 12 the leak has been pinned down the to an area surrounding Keefer Road.

Riley says she delivered two pallets of water to the Corinth City Building to hand out to people who need it.

"The crews here, as far as an update that I've gotten from the water district, is that they'll be back at it tomorrow at 8. They've been calling other resources to help. This entity only has two employees that run the current water district. They've been at it probably for about two and a half days or so,” said Magistrate Riley.

The Water District says the water lines have been turned on and that everyone should have at least a trickle of water, but they're asking that people take only what they need while they try to get full pressure back.
