Domestic electricity users are the biggest winners in the latest round of tariff adjustment after the Energy Regulatory Commission has abolished standing charges. On average, one kilowatt of electricity will cost 16 shillings and 64 cent, down from the previous 17 shillings and 77 cents. However, the energy regulator has revised up the unit cost of electricity for most customer categories with the rate for a domestic customer who uses up to ten units increasing from two shillings and fifty cents to 12 shillings.
