Mijikenda community abandons some cultural practices

For centuries now, cholera and other water borne diseases have been plaguing the Mijikenda community largely attributed to retrogressive cultural practices that prohibits family to share toilets. It is this sharing that has forced some of them use mother nature as a dumping site of human waste disposal. However efforts by a non-governmental organization may soon bear fruits, as area residents begin to abandon practices and cultural beliefs that have been a cause of diseases in the region.
