Trouble bar known for drugs, fights & shots fired demolished

HAMILTON, Ohio (WKRC) - Nothing but trouble.

That's what people in one local community thought of a neighborhood bar. But now the bar is gone. People are hoping it's a positive change.

The property was once home to a popular chain restaurant. It closed and later became a bar. It closed and just recently the building was demolished, leaving behind a lot of bad memories.

In the summer of 2016, surveillance video captured trouble inside Doubles Bar on Main Street. Shots rang out, one person was killed, and seven others were hurt. Days later, there was retaliation for that shooting. Two men were killed in a drive-by shooting near downtown Hamilton. Doubles eventually closed, the property was put up for sale. Now the once troubled bar is no more.

Sgt. Robinson said Hamilton police officers made runs for drugs, fights, and shots fired. Not to mention noise complaints from neighbors. Doubles was a magnet for trouble makers.

23-year-old Cory Cook pleaded guilty to reduced charges. He was one of five people charged in shooting inside Doubles Bar. Two others previously entered plea deals. Even some former customers of Doubles were pleased to see the troubled bar reduced to rubble.

The real estate company overseeing the property said the owner was looking for either a buyer or tenant with the intent of just starting over.

While three of those charged in the Doubles Bar shooting have pleaded guilty, two others are still waiting to stand trial.
