Nearly 24 hours after discovering that Whitney Houston had died, it is heartening to see and hear all the tributes to the beautiful singer who possessed one of the great pop and soul voices of last century. I have decided to post another clip to celebrate her life, her beauty, her talent, her voice and her spirit- which remains with her music, her films, her videos and of course in the hearts of fans in their millions around the world.

I recall finding the "Whitney Houston" LP in early 1985 here in Sydney and thinking who is this devastatingly beautiful girl, and can she sing? I bought the record, and i wondered no more. 1985 and 1986 the album was played non-stop as i observed the Whitney juggernaut take off everywhere on the planet, and within the year she became a superstar - one of the quickest escalations into the stratosphere that i had witnessed. The songs on her debut album remain firm favorites from the decade. They are filled with heart, spirit and fire in the belly - such rare ingredients in a voice and person as young as Whitney was when she first stepped into that recording studio.

I prefer to remain connected to the soulful and spirited songs that she memorialized, than focus on the tragedy or her demons.The recordings become like picture perfect postcards to a time in our lives - ups and downs, joys and heartaches, change and transformation - all richly cemented within the pockets of experience that are these exquisite 4 minute treasures. 

I am sad, but i am also celebrating the body of work that the legendary woman leaves behind, as fuel and reasons to keep trucking along in life and striving, dreaming, and having a meaningful and impassioned life. A soulful voice, one with such power gives hope & heart to all who receive it. I intend to receive it today, more than ever! I hope this track "Someone for me" brings back fond memories & keeps people connected to her magic - always!
